Red vs Blue Fanfiction

“No, no, no, no, no…” The Celtic green and black armored female agent back pedaled away from the Pelican drop ship in fear.

Carolina, who was already standing in the ship with the rest of the seated team, heaved a frustrated sigh at the younger agent. “Arizona, stop it. You are being ridiculous!” the aqua-colored agent snapped.

“I don’t care!” Arizona shouted back, her voice shaking a little.

“I will have you sedated if you don’t cooperate,” Carolina warned, an impatient tone edging her voice.

“No!” The terrified woman spun around to bolt, but collided with a solid mass of armored muscle. She looked up to see the golden sheen of Maine’s EVA helmet staring back down at her.

“Glad you could join us, Maine,” Carolina remarked to the bulky Freelancer. “Now bring Arizona over here with you so we can get going. We don’t have all day, people.” Carolina turned and walked farther into the Pelican, through the door and into the co-pilot seat.

Agent Maine looked back down at the shorter agent after watching their leader speak. He put a big hand on Arizona’s shoulder to steady her trembling form. He silently turned the young woman around to face the ship again and nudged her towards it.

Arizona shook her head frantically and practically glued her feet to the floor, refusing to move another inch closer to the Pelican. She pushed back against Maine’s attempts to herd her onto the drop ship, fear taking over her panicking mind.

“Come on already,” Maine said impatiently in his gravelly voice.

“No, I-I can’t!” Arizona kept trying to back away. “I can’t do it!”

The burly agent sighed. “Yes you can, you’ve done it hundreds of times before,” he told her. Arizona just shook her head again, too terrified for words now. “I’ll be holding your hand… just like the other times.”

Arizona’s head managed to clear itself of fearful thoughts and focus on Maine’s words. She looked up at his helmet where his eyes would be and gave him the tiniest of nods.

A fond smile grew on the large Freelancer’s face behind his helmet. He took the green and black armored agent’s hand in his much larger one, lacing their fingers and holding onto her hand with a firm, gentle grip. Maine led a beyond nervous Arizona onto the Pelican and sat her in a seat right beside him, never letting go of her hand.

As the ship’s engines whirred to life and began propelling the craft out of the hangar, Arizona’s grip tightened around Maine’s hand more and more. He didn’t seem to care though as he sat there with no complaints. The big Freelancer gave the young woman’s hand a gentle squeeze in return to reassure her.

Arizona bounced her leg anxiously as she stole a grateful glance at Maine. She knew he was one of the very few, and very rare reasons why she got anywhere near vehicles. The tiniest smile crept onto her face at realizing how thankful, not to mention lucky, she was to have him by her side.

More Maine fluff X3

A little writing prompt that I found while looking at :iconbritish-prophetess:'s writing themes... I think it was under an OTP challenge. So, there might be a couple more of these later c:

While I love Maine being this hulking mass of death and destruction, I like the thought of him having a sweet side .w.
